Abstract

1,127,081. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. DOLE VALVE CO. Oct. 20, 1965 [Dec. 10, 1964], No. 44463/65. Heading G3P. [Also in Division D1] The temperature of water admitted to a washing machine is controlled by identical valves 45 connected to hot and cold water supplies and discharging into a mixing chamber 57 in the outlet from which is a resilient annular flow control member 58. Upon energizing the solenoid 43 associated with each valve an octagonal armature 39 is lifted to unseat a conical pilot valve 41 to drain the fluid which has entered a chamber 55 behind a main diaphragm valve 29 via one or more radially outwardly directed bleeds 54 permanently open to the hot or cold water supply. Energization of each solenoid is effected by an electric switch actuated from a wax-type thermal element responsive to the water temperature in the machine. The switches may be replaced by thermally-responsive variable-resistors VIZ a thermistor and a sensistor associated with the cold and hot water valves respectively which resistors may be directly open to the water in the machine or encapsulated.
