Abstract
1,126,559. Control of D.C. motors. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 12 June, 1967 [14 June, 1966], No. 26538/66. Heading H2J. The armature of a D.C. motor is supplied through series connected main P1 and auxiliary P2 rectifier bridges, the latter being controllable and of smaller capacity and is energized first. The field F is variable by unspecified means. P2, comprising thyristors, is energized first, at a late firing angle and with full field. The firing angle is advanced to maximum followed by field weakening. When the limit of this is reached the field is abruptly restored to maximum and P1 is energized after which P2 and the field is further regulated as desired. P1 can supply 65% of full power and P2 25%. P2 may be arranged to buck P1 when P1 is first switched in. As shown, P1 and P2 are supplied from separate transformers, but instead there may be one transformer with two secondary windings, with switches either in the A.C. or the D.C. side.
