Abstract

1,122,109. Filter. A. MIGULE and H. BURDE. 17 Nov., 1966 [9 March, 1966], No. 51613/66. Heading BID. A filtering apparatus comprises a rigid column of filter plates resiliently rotatably mounted in a casing in such manner that the said column of filter plates can perform rotary oscillations in relation to the casing. The plates when coated with filter cake may be oscillated at or near their natural frequency to remove the cake. In Fig. 1 the oscillation is effected when required by electromagnets 10 via bar 9, rigid bar 8, cap 7 and tube 12 to which the plates are attached. Cap 7 is mounted in elastically deformable steel or brass tube 6 which is itself rigidly attached to the casing. The casing 1 is supported on rubber cushions 3 so that complementary vibrations are induced in the casing to shake removed filter cake towards outlet pipe 21. Fluid may be withdrawn from the filter pipe 27 prior to the oscillations. Filtered fluid passes up passages (15) (Fig. 3 not shown) in the centre of the plates to vacuum pipe 18, which pipe has a flexible section 19. In the embodiments of Figs. 4 and 6 (not shown) oscillation of the plates is effected by oscillating the casing, antiphase oscillation being produced in Fig. 6 in which the casing is freely rotatably mounted in bearings (40, 41).
