Abstract

Stable, water-soluble preparations of 1-(5-nitro-2-furyl)-2-(6-amino-3-pyridazyl) - ethylene hydrochloride comprise a mixture of 1-(5-nitro-2-furyl)-2-(6-amino-3-pyridazyl)-ethylene hydrochloride and tartaric acid and/or citric acid as solubilising agent. The solubilising acids may be used in admixture with at least one alkali metal salt thereof. The preparations may also contain polyvinyl pyrrolidone, thiourea, a polywax and/or a wetting agent e.g. a block polymer of propylene oxide and ethylene oxide. The ratio of 1-(5-nitro-2-furyl)-2-(6-amino-3-pyridazyl)-ethylene hydrochloride to the solubilising agent is 1:1 to 1:10 by weight. The preparations are dissolved in drinking water and administered for the prophylaxis and therapy of fowl pest, fowl typhus, chronic fowl cholera and infectious hepatitis.
