Abstract

1,121,249. Window structures; hinges. ETABS. J. DANOIS & FILS SOC. ANON and Y. P. M. J. MALENFANT. 9 Feb., 1967 [16 March, 1966], No. 6274/67. Headings E1J and E2F. A window comprises a horizontally or vertically rotatable sash A formed from profile members each having opposing back to back recesses 3, 4, the recess 3 facing inwards to accommodate the pane 7 and the recess 4 facing outwards to accommodate a sealing strip 8 which contacts the convex surface of an outer main frame 10 which is provided with a flange 12 having an inturned lip 12a carrying at its end a seal strip 13 to contact the sash when this latter is in its closed position. Two pivoted sashes in the one frame may be provided and pivoted at opposite sides and the sealing strip 8 on one frame engaging with an adjacent portion of the adjacent side wall of the other frame. The outer frame is formed with channels 11 which are drained by passages 40. The frame members of the sash are mitred and secured together by corner pieces 14 secured in the frame members by screws 17, the corner pieces having recesses 15 which co-operate with the inner wall of the frame member to define a cylindrical channel which accommodates a rod 20 fixed therein, and which projects at its ends to be received in sleeves fixed in the outer frame to form the hinges for the sash. Casement bolts are accommodated similarly to the rods 20 in recesses 15.
