Abstract

Roofs; walls.-Tiles of the type having undercut lugs to engage bevelled wooden or metal battens for securing them without nails, wire, or cement, are formed with a lug 3, Fig. 1, adjacent to each top corner and a single lower lug 6 which engages the bevelled edge of the tile below as shown in Fig. 5. The tiles can be pushed upwards under those above in order to remove them. Recesses 22 and channels 23 prevent water from creeping up, and a channel 21 at one side drains water from the rabbeted side joints The top course of roof tiles is secured by a batten 11, and of wall tiles by a metal plate 12, Fig. 7. Ridge tiles are provided with two lugs 17, Fig. 5, which engage a short batten 14 fixed to the ridge bar. Tiles for .eaves, gable ends, and the bottoms of walls are formed with flange-like angled portions or aprons. When the tiles are applied to steel framework Z or oblique-angled bars are used instead of the bevelled battens.
