Abstract

1,120,087. Winding webs. NOVACEL. 16 Dec., 1966 [16 Dec., 1965], No. 56492/66. Heading B6B. A combined web-roll removing and core inserting device comprises a two part shell 10 (Fig. 4). Annular grooves (17) on the internal surface of the shell 10 are used to correctly position a plurality of web-roll cores 15 with respect to the winding shaft 5 used in a web slitting and rewind machine (not illustrated). A bracket 11 extending from the front of the shell 10 is used as a pusher to remove completed web-rolls E from the winding shaft 5 on to a storage mandrel 8, as shown in (Figs. 5 to 8). In so doing, the shell 10 moves completely over the shaft 5 (Fig. 6), so that the empty cores are now correctly positioned on the shaft 5. Opening the two-part shell 10, at this stage, enables the shaft 5 with cores 15 thereon to be removed and transported to the winding station of the web-slitting and rewind machine.
