Abstract

1,119,941. Protective arrangements. G. S. BOWMAN. 17 Nov., 1965 [19 Aug., 1964], No. 33844/64. Heading H2K. To protect against, or to indicate the presence of, arcing faults in an electrical installation, a broad-band R.F. detector circuit is connected to the earth and/or neutral line or lines of the installation so as to respond to the radiofrequencies produced by an arc, alarm means responsive to the output of the detector giving a visual or audible alarm or initiating a tripping action. The detector circuit may comprise an LC circuit 10 tuned to accept radio-frequency signals, e.g. of 500-2000 kilocycles, and a diode 9. The alarm means may comprise a transistor amplifier 8, a monostable transistor pulse circuit 6, 7 and a relay 4, 5 controlling an indicator lamp 3.
