Abstract
1,119,217. Practice projectile. FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE SOC. ANON. 13 Oct., 1965 [30 Oct., 1964], No. 43376/65. Heading F3A. A practice projectile having a reduced range in relation to a normal projectile having the same initial kinetic energy is provided with a plurality of tongues situated at the rear of the body of the projectile and forming a prolongation of the body, thereby increasing the drag of the projectile in the air. If the projectile is made from a metallic casing 3 and a composite core 4 and 5 the tongues 6 may be integral with the core or casing and may be flexible such that under the action of centrifugal force they open out and increase the drag of the projectile. In another embodiment the projectile comprises a single homogeneous body of plastics material.
