Abstract

1,119,285. Boots &c. STAFFORD TOOL & DIE CO. Ltd. 18 May, 1966 [11 Jan., 1966], No. 1197/66. Heading A3B. A shoe of the type having a sole and heel moulded in one piece from a plastics material or rubber has a reinforcing member embedded in the one piece sole and heel, the reinforcing member consisting of a first portion 16 contained within the sole and a second portion 17 extending generally from the top to the bottom of the heel. The reinforcing member may be made from spring metal and may have a strengthening rib 18 and a part 20 to which a top lift may be secured. The shoe is made by securing the reinforcing member to the underside of the insole of a lasted shoe e.g. by tacks or wire staples, the lasted upper is placed over a mould and the sole and heel is then injection moulded into the shoe bottom.
