Abstract
Novel compounds of the general formula <FORM:1119070/C2/1> (wherein R represents H or a C1- 7 hydrocarbon radical and R1 represents a C2- 6 hydrocarbon radical) are prepared by oxidizing a compound of the general formula <FORM:1119070/C2/2> or by condensing a 2-tetralone compound of the general formula <FORM:1119070/C2/3> with a secondary amin#q Q.NH.Q1 (wherein Q and Q1 represent identical or different lower alkyl radicals or jointly form with N a substituted or unsubstituted N- or N- and O-containing heterocyclic ring) and reacting the resulting enamine with a compound R1X1 (wherein X1 represents a halogen atom or a group -OSO2Y1 where Y1 is OH, a hydrocarbon radical or a hydrocarbonyloxy radical. Some of the products are purified by conversion to their semicarbazones, from which the ketones are regenerated by hydrolysis.
