Abstract

1,118,526. Sprinkler heads. GEORGE ANGUS & CO. Ltd. 18 May, 1967 [12 July. 1966], No. 31184/66. Heading A5A. A sprinkler head of the type comprising a frame 10, a nozzle 11 at the upper end of the frame for connection to a water pipe, a deflector plate 14 below the nozzle, and a valve 17 normally held in position to close the nozzle by a temperature-sensitive frangible bulb 16, is characterised in that the nozzle has a flat seat 13 for the valve, and the valve carries in a recess therein a resilient sealing ring 19 of plastics material e.g. polytetrafluoroethylene which forms a seal against the flat seat on the nozzle. Consequently the valve may be brass instead of copper. The valve may carry an additional resilient ring (21) forming a seat for the upper end of the bulb.
