Abstract

1,118,503. Insulators. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 14 Nov.. 1966 [16 Dec., 1965], No. 53448/65. Heading H2C. A composite insulator consists of an outer part made from a silicone rubber bonded to an inner part made from a cast thermosetting resin such as an epoxy or polyester resin. The outer part may be mainly organopolysiloxane containing vinyl groups and a minor amount of a polymerizable allyl ester. Methods of manufacture include casting either the inner or outer part first and the use of a priming agent to promote the bonding between the cast resin and the silicone rubber.
