1,118,338. Percussive tools. OY TAMPELLA A.B. 18 Nov., 1966 [14 Dec., 1965], No. 51699/66. Heading B4C. An apparatus for controlling the position of a carrier 8 for a rock drill comprises a boom 1 mounted for pivotal movement about a first support 2, a first fluid-pressure actuated jack S 3 having its piston 17 and cylinder 19 pivotally connected to the boom and a second support 18 respectively, a second jack S 2 having its piston 13 and cylinder 11 pivotally connected to the carrier and boom rspectively, a third jack S 1 for causing pivotal movement of the boom about the first support and conduits 28 linking the first and second jacks such that, during pivotal movement of the boom about the first support, fluid is transferred between the jacks in a sense tending to maintain the position of the carrier parallel to its original position. The fluid is fed from a reservoir 22 by means of a pump 21 and is controlled via valves 25, 26.
