Abstract

1,117,715. Sewing machines. SINGER CO. 4 April, 1967 [7 April, 1966], No. 15369/67. Heading DIG. A sewing machine looptaker comprises a rotary body having an annular rim concentric with the axis of rotation and formed with a loop-seizing beak, a bobbin case having a cylindrical bobbin-receiving portion and a radially-extending flange of part-circular form, said flange being supported on said rim, and a stationary bracket having first means engaging the outer edge of said flange to provide the sole constraint against radial movement of the bobbin case, second means engaging the outer edge of said flange to provide the sole constraint against circular movement of the bobbin case, and third means engaging one side of said flange to provide the sole constraint against axial movement of the bobbin case away from said body. A loop taker body 40, rigid with a driving shaft 26, has an annular rim 44 formed with a loop-seizing beak 45. Rim 44 is also formed, adjacent beak 45, with an external lug 48 provided at its base with a thread-receiving notch 49. The base 41 of body 40 is formed, in the vicinity of beak 45, with a needle-passing slot 50. A bobbin case has a cylindrical portion 61 housing a bobbin 65, and a radial flange which has a circular edge portion 76 supported on rim 44 and also has a straight edge portion 79 disposed on a chord relatively to edge 76. A bracket 90, fixed by screws 95, 96, comprises a lower plate 92 and an upper plate 91. Plate 92 has an arcuate edge portion 98 engaging edge 76 to prevent radial movement of the bobbin case. Plate 91 has an extension 105 with edge portions 107, 108 engaging edge 79 to prevent circular movement of the bobbin case. Plate 91 also engages the upper surface of said radial flange adjacent arcuate edge portions 101, 102 disposed inwardly of edge 76, to prevent axial movement of the bobbin case away from body 40.
