Abstract

Apparatus for feeding pulverulent or granular material from one zone to another zone of higher pressure comprises an oscillatable member 3 having two receptacles 4, 5 provided respectively with inlet apertures and outlets closeable by valves 8, 9, the member 3 being pivotally mounted below a feed aperture 2 in a wall of a body 1 and arranged so that the receptacles are fed alternately with material in such a way that when one of the receptacles contains a predetermined amount of material the member swings so as to bring the other receptacle to the filling position and allow the filled receptacle to discharge. The valves 8, 9 may comprise flaps and a seal 10 may be arranged to provide an air-tight seal between the inlet apertures of the receptacles and the wall of the body 1 in the vicinity of the feed aperture 2. The member 3 may be pivotally mounted on a horizontal shaft 7.
