Abstract

1,117,334. Transistor amplifying and gating Circuits. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. 29 Oct., 1965 [7 Nov., 1964], No. 45845/65. Heading H3T. The gain of an amplifier is switched from one value to another by means of a network comprising resistors carrying D.C., being arranged so that the D.C. conditions in the circuit are not changed. In one embodiment comprising a transistor amplifier with input applied to base and output from the collector circuit, the emitter circuit comprises two series-connected resistors 61, 62 with a switch 7, whereby the resistor 62 can be shorted out: the switch 7 is connected to a point-U h whose potential is the same as that of the common point of resistors 61, 62. In other embodiments, the switch is used to connect a second resistor in parallel with an emitter circuit resistor (Fig. 3, not shown) or the collector circuit loads are switched (Figs. 2, 4, not shown). In push-pull embodiments (Figs. 5-8, not shown) comprising similar pairs of amplifiers, it is only necessary to connect the switch between like points in the circuit. The Specification also describes a circuit of the last type in which diodes are used as switches (Fig. 9, not shown), a bridge network being employed to which switching voltages of constant amplitude are applied by means of a Zener diode.
