Abstract
1,117,212. Reading electricity meters. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGSG.m.b.H. 14 Sept., 1965 [14 Sept., 1964], No. 39153/65. Heading G4H. In an electricity meter, contact paths over which first contact arms associated with respective decimal orders of the meter reading can slide, can be scanned by a further sliding contact arm for read-out. The first contact arms rotate about points equally spaced on a circle, the further contact arm rotating about the centre of the circle during interrogation to scan the stationary contacts of the various decimal orders which are brought to a larger concentric circle for this purpose. The first contact arms are rotated via gearing in a step-by-step manner by a motor under control of a halved shaft which rotates as electricity is consumed, until a read-out command signal energizes a solenoid to prevent further stepping but allow the motor to rotate the further contact arm, thus producing a differentially-timed reading pulse for each decimal order in turn. Pointers and scales are provided with all the contact arms.
