Abstract
1,115,714. Tipping apparatus. R. J. PIOCH. 19 July, 1966, No. 32467/66. Heading B8E. Apparatus at a loading dock 29 for inverting a truck 40 or other container to empty its contents into a hopper 20, having a chamber 22 in which a ram 24 operates to compress the material and feed it into a container 27, comprises elevating arms 56 which by a bar 52 lift and invert the truck 40. The container has kerfed plates 44 which engage a fixed pivot bar 45 about which the container tips and hook plates 46 which before the container inverts engage the bar 52 to hold it thereon due to the pivot 60 of the arms 56 being below the bar 45. The arms 56 are actuated by actuating levers 75 through a link assembly 70, haying a cushioning assembly 90, when the ram 24 retracts from its extended position just within the container 27. Before tipping the waggon is supported on a platform which is a continuation of the loading dock 29. In a modification, a wheelless container is clamped on a platform which is raised and tipped by a similar arm and linkage arrangement while in a further example the connection between the ram and the tipping arms is modified together with the way in which the container is held on the arms during inversion.
