Abstract
5-Aminovaleric acid is prepared by culturing a micro-organism of the genus Pseudomonas under aerobic conditions in an aqueous nutrient medium containing L-lysine, or by reacting L-lysine or a substance containing the same with an enzyme produced by such a micro-organism. Specified micro-organisms are P. fluorescens IAM-3, ATCC 15453, P. boreopolis ATCC 15452, P. putida ATCC 4359, and P. ovalis ATCC 15175, and the culturing is preferably conducted between 25 DEG and 40 DEG C. at a pH between 5.0 and 9.5. L-lysine may be added to the nutrient medium after culturing has started, and the 5-aminovaleric acid may be recovered by ion-exchange techniques.
