Abstract

An aqueous descaling solution, e.g. for austenitic stainless steel, comprises 3.6 to 11% by weight of anhydrous Fe2(SO4)3, 0.90 to 11.3% of anhydrous HF, and 0.0001 to 6.9% of Ti. HNO3 may also be added. The solution may be used at room temperature or 130 DEG F. - 190 DEG F.
