Abstract

1,115,241. Delivering measured quantities of liquid. G. E. CAREW. 17 Feb., 1966 [2 Feb., 1965], No. 4509/65. Heading B8N. A portable dispenser for applying measured quantities of a fluent material such as liquids or powder to a surface comprises a plunger 11 slidably mounted in a body 2 communicating with a reservoir 1, the plunger having a metering recess 10 which, when the plunger is pressed against the surface, fills with the material so that upon release of the plunger the material flows from the recess on to the surface. The plunger is provided with a valve portion 9 urged by a spring 13 into contact with the body 2. The recess 10 may be in the form of a circumferential groove or a bore extending transversely through the plunger. The body may be of a transparent plastic material and the plunger of a harder material or vice versa. The reservoir may be made from a transparent material and be manually compressible in order to facilitate the flow of material into the recess.
