Abstract

1,115,168. Drying hides. CHARVO S.A. 14 Sept., 1968 [23 Sept., 1965], No. 40973/66. Heading F4G. In apparatus for drying hides and skins or like sheet-like articles, the articles H 1 , H 2 are applied to the polished surfaces 4a, 4b of a hollow, flat casing through which a heated fluid is caused to flow and which is tiltable on a framework between two substantially symmetrical positions at an angle of between 0 and 45 degrees to the vertical. A flat permeable resilient cushion 37, 38 is mounted on the inner side of each of a pair of resilient air-tight covers 35, 36 to press the articles into engagement with the heated surfaces, while the edges of the covers have resilient sealing means 41, 42 adapted to engage the surfaces of the casing around the articles. The spaces formed between the covers and the polished surfaces are selectively evacuated via ducts 13, 14 within the casing and the covers are hinged at their upper ends to one edge of the casing about a common horizontal axis by means of a motor-driven worm gearing and linkage 46 . . . 51.
