Abstract

1,115,089. Rotary-piston internal-combustion engines. BETEILIGUNGS-UND PATENTVERWALTUNGS, G.m.b.H. Dec.17, 1965 [Dec. 19, 1964], No.53690/65. Heading F1F. In a rotary-piston I. C. engine of the trochoidal n and n + 1 lobe type, an oil-scraper ring 2 is lodged in each end wall 1 of the casing and is pressed against the adjacent end-face 5 of the piston 6 by an annular corrugated spring 7, the ring being supported by a resilient packing-ring 3. A plurality of axially-orientated holes 11 in the ring aforesaid prevent accumulation of oil stripped from the face 5 by an edge 8 between an annular sealing-surface 4 and a conical surface 10, the diameter d1 of the said edge being equal to dt . cos 180/n + db, where db is the diameter of each of the holes 11, n is the number of said holes and dt is the diameter of a pitch circle upon whose circumference the axes of said holes are disposed. A further conical surface 9 is provided adjacent the radially-outermost edge of the surface 4.
