Abstract

Novel compounds of general formula <FORM:1114470/C2/1> where R represents the pyrroyl-(2) or the 5-methylpyrroyl-(2 group, Bz is benzoyl and the sugar residue has the L-alpha-lyxopyranosyl configuration are prepared by reacting a compound of formula <FORM:1114470/C2/2> with the appropriate pyrrole-magnesium halide and decomposition of the complex optionally followed by catalytic hydrogenolysis of the benzyl group.
