Abstract
An impregnating agent for scouring pads comprises the following ingredients within the following percentage weight ranges:- .(a) water.25-50% .(b) sodium nitrite.1-3% .(c) sodium or potassium car. .bonate.3-10% .(d) potassium high lauric acid. .soap.10-45% .(e) potassium or sodium high. .lauric acid soap.0.5-22.5% .(f) sodium or potassium tallow. .soap.5-45% and optionally .(g) polyglycol.0-6% . a foam builder.0-6% Ingredients (d) and (e) are preferably obtained from commercial coconut oil, palm kernel or babassu nut oil and ingredient (f) may be prepared by saponification of commercially available tallow or neutralization of fatty acids derived from tallow or other sources that give predominantly palmitic, stearic and oleic acids. The polyglycol which may be employed acts as an humectant and may be polyethylene glycol, sorbitol, manitol or glycerine. The foam builder may be a fatty alcohol having a chain length of C6 to C18 and is preferably octanol, decanol, tetradecanol, hexadecanol, octadecanol and dodecanol. The agent may also comprise colouring matter and perfume.
