Abstract

An insulating composition comprises an insulating oil and at least 1 wt. per cent of a solvent refined Fischer Tropsch wax. The insulating oil may be dodecylbenzene or a mineral oil. The composition may contain one or more polyolefins, petrolatum or a resin of low dielectric loss, e.g. colophony.ALSO:Cables or capacitors are impregnated with a composition comprising an insulating oil and at least 1 wt % of a solvent refined Fischer Tropoch wax. The oil may be dodecylbenzene or a mineral oil. The composition may contain one or more polyolefins, petrolatum or a resin of low dielectric loss e.g. colophony.
