Abstract

[Also in Division E1] In an apparatus for filling a cavity with a bituminous composition comprising a tube 4 having a nozzle 1 fitted with a closure means 3, hot composition 8 is poured into the tube (via funnel 5) and the closure 3 released. In Fig. 1 the closure 3 is of wood and is held by a sleeve 2 surrounding the nozzle 1, the heat of the composition 8 fusing the sleeve, the fusion of which releases the closure 3. The composition may be kept hot by a heating rod 7 in the tube. The composition may be widely distributed by a plurality of means on the bottom of the tube which is slowly raised during discharge.
