Abstract

1,110,402. Life jackets. VACUUM REFLEX Ltd. 3 Aug., 1965 [3 May, 1964], No. 16154/64. Heading B7U. A floatation device for use by a human being comprises buoyant means consisting of a neck portion 10 which extends forwardly, as at 12, 13 to present a blunt surface 17, 18 to oncoming waves, the extending portions 12, 13 being so shaped that the centre of buoyancy of the buoyant means lies substantially in front of the head of the wearer. The buoyancy means may be inflatable or filled with a solid buoyant material, and is secured by a flexible hinge 16 to a waistcoat 15. The portions 12, 13 are fastened together by a strap 14.
