Abstract
1,110,200. Flash cube cameras. AGFAGEVAERT A. G. July 22, 1966 [Aug. 9, 1965], No. 33096/66. Heading G2A. A camera having means for rotating a flash cube, which rotation is operated by the film transport mechanism, also has means such that the drive from the film transport mechanism to the rotating means is rendered ineffective when a flash cube is inserted until after one exposure has been made. On operating the film transport lever 1, a transport wheel is driven which engages a pinion 7, and thereby drives a sprocket 11 which winds on the film. Further film transport is then prevented by a double exposure preventing lever 5, which can slide and pivot on a pin 10a. A further vertical slider 20 lies, when no flash cube is present, with a lug 20b thereof above slider 5 or a lug 5d. The flash cube socket 13 has a central rod 35 ending in a plate 24 urged upwards by a compression spring 23. When no cube is present, this plate engages under an arm of slide 20 and holds it in its highest position against the action of a spring 36, since spring 23 is stronger than spring 36. A drive wheel 26 meshes with pinion 7 see also Fig. 2, (not shown) and carries a thrust pawl 29 pivoted at 30 and loaded by a spring (28). When slide 20 is in the raised position of Fig. 1, it lifts the pawl clear of ratchet projections 31a on a control wheel 31 connected with the socket 13. Thus any rotation of the film transport mechanism, and hence wheel 26, is not transmitted to the socket. When a flash cube 14 is inserted into the socket, rod 35 and plate 24 are pressed downwards into the positon of Fig. 1, compressing spring 23. Slider 20 cannot follow them down, since lug 20b at the bottom end of the slider is abutting against lug 5d of slider 5. If, therefore, the film transport is now operated, the movement is still not transmitted to the socket and flash cube. After or during this film transport movement, however, lug 5d slides out of range of lug 20b, so that slider 20 can now, under the action of spring 36, follow plate 24 downwards. Pawl 29 is thus allowed to move down into a position in which it is within range of the lugs 31a, so that during each subsequent film transport operation it advances the control wheel 31, and hence the flash socket and cube, through 90 degrees. In the modification of Figs. (not shown) 3 and 4, a different mechanical arrangement for engaging the rotating socket with the driving means is provided.
