Abstract

111,028. Sandford, W. H. March 12, 1917. Addition to 107,636. Coupling.-The coupling described in the parent Specification 107,636, in which the rope &c. is gripped between the sides of a wedge and a tapered sheath, is modified in that the locking-bolt H passing through the sheath A and the slot B' in the wedge B is arranged to bear frictionally against the sides of the wedge and does not project beyond the outer faces of the sheath. The bolt H may screw into a nut H<2> or into the side of the sheath. A spring or coned washer M may be placed on the bolt H between the head H' and the wedge B. Holes A<4> may be provided in the sheath to allow a spike to be inserted into the slot B' in the wedge to hold the same retracted while the rope is being threaded around the wedge.
