A system for controlling the temperature of an electric heating pad substantially as disclosed in Specification 1,105, 908 is modified by the provision of two primary windings on the series connected transformer, one of which windings is provided with more turns than the other, the arrangement being such that the effect of ambient temperature on the cooling rate of the bi-metallic switching device is reduced.
