Abstract

1,108,428. Spray-producers. J. R. GEIGY S.A. 1 July, 1965 [9 July, 1964], No. 27871/65. Heading B2F. An apparatus suitable for spraying a liquid or powder comprises a reservoir 1 containing the liquid or powder. a container 5 mounted within the reservoir 1 and containing a liquefied propellant gas, a push-button 27 mounted on the stopper 4 of the reservoir 1 and adapted to control the escape of the propellant from the container 5 and the liquid or powder from the reservoir 1 via a tube 24 and a passage 25, a flexible member 13 arranged in the inoperative position of the push-button 27 to seal the container 5 from the discharge nozzle 29 mounted within the push-button. and a further flexible member 47 similarly designed to seal the reservoir 1 from the atmosphere and the nozzle 29. The flexible member 13 is located between a dome 8 of a cover 9 for the reservoir 5 and a cup-shaped body 20 which is connected to the interior of the reservoir 5 by a tube 30. Depression of the push-button 27 Fig. 4 (not shown) allows the propellant to reach the venturi nozzle via a passage 14 and duct 15, connects the interior of the reservoir 1 with the atmosphere via passage 48, and puts passages 43 and 25 in communication so that the liquid or powder is entrained into the nozzle and discharged therefrom. The embodiments of Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) depict alternative constructions of valves controlling the outlet of the container 5 and in the embodiment of Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown) the flexible member 47 which controls the discharge of the spray material from the reservoir 1 is replaced by a slidable valve integral with the push button. The reservoir 1 may be divided into two compartments. each compartment containing a different spray material.
