Abstract

1,108,482. Wells etc.; subaqueous tanks & structures. GULF OIL CORPORATION. 14 April, 1965 [21 April. 1964], No. 15893/65, Headings E1F and E1H. A subaqueous well is completed by forcing a tube 44 encircling the well casing 16 into the ground below the water to extend above the surface of the water, cutting the casing adjacent the ground before or after forcing the tube, pumping water from the tube, installing a wellhead on the casing, and running flowlines 62 from the wellhead through the tube to above the surface of the water. Casing 24 is run into the casing 16 surrounded by conductor 14, the annular spaces between the casings and the casing 16 and conductor 14 are cemented, and the casing 24 is plugged. The space between the conductor and casing above ground is filled with sand and the casings and conductor are severed above the ground. A tube support structure 32 having an annular oil tank 38 is lowered over the stubs of the conductor and casings. The tube is lowered through the support and driven or jetted into the ground. The water is pumped from the tube, the casings are trimmed and wellhead equipment 46 is fitted after drilling out the plug. The flowline is connected to a lubricator 66 and a separator 68, the separator being connected by a line 40 to the tank. A turbine 72 driven by gas from the separator operates a generator 74 connected to a foghorn and light unit 76. The unit 76 may be supplied by other sources. The tube may be installed prior to drilling the well.
