Abstract

<PICT:1108386/C1/1> Liquid manure is fed through an opening 4, into a partially buried glass-lined storage tank 13; is recycled through an impeller pump unit 5, an external coupling 6 and a jet unit 7; and is withdrawn through the pump unit and coupling (after disconnection from the jet unit) into a spreader tank (8). The pump unit (Figs. 4-6) has a central shaft operated through an integral gear-box by a tractor drive, the shaft carrying impeller blades within the pump housing, cutter blades just below the housing, and stirrer blades spaced below the cutter blades. The pump unit is supported by a carriage (Figs. 9 and 10) from which it is lowered into the tank and on which it may be transported to another tank after rotation to the horizontal position. The jet unit (Figs. 7 and 8) is telescopically extensible downwards and has a bent horizontal jet which rotates in use except when locked.
