Abstract

1,107,314. Illuminated signs. P. B. NASSIL, and B. A. HAKANSSON. 23 Feb., 1967 [28 Feb., 1966], No. 8758/67. Heading G5C. A letter-shaped sign comprises two-mating trough-shaped portions 1 and 2 containing a light source 4, the face to be viewed 10 having transparent portions in the form of projections, such as ribs 11, which are less wide than the viewing face and approximately as high as they are wide. The projections are arranged along the edges of the viewing face. The abutting edges of the two trough-shaped portions 1 and 2 have outwardly extending flanges 15, 16 held together by strips of channel-section 4. The rear portion 2 is preferably of an opaque coloured plastics material while the front portion may be entirely of transparent material but with areas 12 intermediate the ribs 11 being made opaque by applying metal foil to the inner surface.
