Abstract

1,104,032. Mixing apparatus. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 25 March, 1965 [30 March, 1964], No. 12641/65. Heading B1C. Apparatus for mixing a liquid into a photographic emulsion comprises a rotatable impeller comprising blades (not shown) attached to a shaft 3 and to a shroud 4 having at its smaller end an annular inlet round the shaft 3, and at the larger bottom end an outlet which is made annular by a central disc. The liquid is introduced into the zone of reduced pressure in the shroud as by a metering nozzle 7. Alternatively the shroud may be stationary and be supported as by the tube 5. The liquid may be introduced into a collar 18 embracing the shaft, (Figures 2 and 3, not shown). The speed of the impeller is between 400 and 3,600 r.p.m. The vessel V has a baffle 9.
