Abstract
1,101,867. Tubular heat exchangers. AIR PREHEATER CO. Inc. 8 Sept., 1965 [28 Sept., 1964], No. 38323/65. Heading F4S. Relative movable parts of a tubular heat exchanger, viz. the casing 25, tube core 27 and a duct 26 conveying fluid to or from the tubes 22, are interconnected by an expansion joint comprising a first flexible sealing member 48 of U-shaped cross-section connected at one edge to the casing 25 and at its other edge to the ducting 26, and a second flexible sealing member 42 concentric with the first. As shown, the member 42 is also of U-shaped cross-section connected at one edge to the tube core 27 and at its other edge to the casing 25. In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 3, not shown), the second sealing member is a flexible annular plate (58) extending between the core 27 and the annular web part of the first sealing member.
