Abstract

1,100,795. Injection moulding. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 25 March, 1966, No. 13219/66. Heading B5A. A " roller post " for guiding a film or tape, and comprising a stem portion 22, a roller head 20 and a snap-in element 40 is injection moulded in cavities provided by two mould plates 46, 48, the material, e.g. acetate butyrate, being injected through a channel 90 opening into the snap-in element portion of the mould cavity. The snap-in element is of greater diameter than the adjacent portion of the stem 22, but can be forced through the corresponding mould cavity portion during ejection. The roller head 20 has an opening 26 formed by a reduced end section 98 of an arbor 72. Grooves 100 in the section 98 form rings 104 within the head 20 and aid in retaining the roller post on the arbor section 98 during the first part of the ejection operation. During the second part of the ejection operation the roller post is removed by a stripper sleeve 74. The machine is designed for producing a number of articles, e.g. sixteen at each injection.
