Abstract

1,100,265. Spools. COURTAULDS Ltd. 25 Nov., 1964 [26 Nov., 1963], No. 46593/63. Heading B8M. [Also in Division D1] A cylinder 4, Fig. 1, having a flanged end 7 and rotatable on an axle 1 secured to a frame 2, carries a plurality of spools 14 that are held in position by an expanding nut 12a. The spools 14 are flangeless and preferably comprise inner and outer cylindrical members 20, 21, Fig. 3, and an annular rib 22 interconnecting said members. A bead 24 around the inner cylindrical member 20 acts as a fingergrip to facilitate removal of the spool from the cylinder. There may be castellated ends 23 that interlock with each other when the spools are assembled on the cylinder 4, the flange 7 having projections or slots that mate with the castellated rim of the adjacent spool. In a modified construction the castellated ends are absent and relative rotation between the spools 14 and the cylinder 4 is prevented by splining the cylinder 4 or making it of non- circular formation.
