Abstract

1,199,584. Constructional toys. R. RABA. 19 Oct., 1967 [26 Oct., 1966], No. 47723/67. Heading A6S. [Also in Divisions B6 and F4] A member for constructing lighting fittings consists of a plane, thin deformable sheet El having curved edges, concave in places, convex in others and having pairs of slots 1, 2 and 2, 3, the distances between the pairs in the concave and in the convex portions being equal. Members are fitted together by engaging one pair of slots in a concave portion of one member with one pair in the convex portion of another member. One of the members has a round hole to enable an electric light bulb to be inserted into the composite structure. By using five members a closed polyhedron may be formed and by using six members a plane surface may be formed which can be used as a wall or ceiling covering, as a panel for building up light enclosures or for rolling into a cylinder for use as a luminous column. In an alternative arrangement Fig. 5 (not shown), the slots are replaced by re-entrant angles formed by directional discontinuities in the periphery of the members between concave and convex portions.
