Abstract

1,198,364. Guide for a vehicle window-pane. H. T. GOLDE-G.m.b.H. 17 Jan., 1968 [24 Jan., 1967; 29 Nov., 1967; 18 Dec., 1967], No. 2579/ 68. Heading E2M. A guide for guiding a sliding window pane during raising and lowering thereof relative to a window receiving well by means of a manually or electrically operable lift mechanism coupled to the lower edge of the pane comprises a guide rail 11 anchored within the well and having at least one flange 12, and at least two spaced-apart sliding members 14, 16 engaged with the flange and rigidly coupled to the lower edge of .the pane, each sliding member having a pair of parallel facing guide surfaces. In Figs. 2 and 3 the guide is shown in use with a cabletype lift mechanism in which a cable guide-tube 10 is fixed to the rail 11. The threaded cable 13 is attached to a catch 8 which can slide lengthwise in the tube 10 and which is rigidly fixed to a plate 14 carrying the sliding members 15, 16. The plate 14 has cut-outs 19, 20 for attachment of a window lift-rail. The guide can be adapated for use with cord or lever-type window lifts (Fig. 10 and 11, not shown). In modifications (a) the member 11 is replaced by a member of U-shaped cross-section, each flange of which carries two sliding members (Fig. 4, not shown); (b) both the plate 14 and the member 11 are of angled cross-section, the two arms of the plate being at right-angles and each carrying two sliding members; (c) for curved window panes the guide-rails are also curved, and the carrier-plate carries in addition to the two sliding members with convex guide faces which engage with an arm of the guide-rail parallel to the pane.
