Abstract

1,198,056. Spindle drive. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 11 Aug., 1967 [1 Sept., 1966], No. 39113/66. Heading D1D. In over-end winding of yarn the speed of rotation of the .spindle is shifted abruptly between at least three selected values according to a programme so as to substantially avoid regions of pattening in the package. The means altering the spindle speed can be operated by a winding machine part, e.g. the builder mechanism, or by an external programming means not operatively connected to the winding machine, e.g. a computer. The shift between the three or more selected speeds may be ordered or unordered. In the Example the three speeds are 8,500, 9,120, 9,850 r.p.m. Specifications 1,198,057 and 1,198,058 are referred to.
