Abstract

1,197,934. Cartons. GREIF-WERK ERNST MAHLKUCH. 19 Sept., 1967 [20 Sept., 1966], No. 42528/67. Heading B8P. A cardboard blank for making a carton comprises a base 5 and side walls 6-9, adjacent walls being joined by square portions having fold lines 16, 18 and a slit 17. Each square portion has two tabs 14, 15, although tab 15 may be dispensed with. When folded the side walls are each raised to a position perpendicular to the base, and the triangle 21 of each square portion is folded against one of the walls 8, 9. The triangle 20 is folded against triangle 21, and triangle 22 is folded about line 16 to lie against triangle 20. The corner is held in its erected state by means of the tabs 14 engaging with tab 19 cut in the base. The free edges of side walls 6, 7 may be provided with lips which can be bent inwards when the carton is erected to strengthen those side walls.
