Abstract

1,197,550. Golf-ball warmer. R. W. GRAVATT. 31 March, 1969 [7 June, 1968], No. 16724/69. Heading A6D. [Also in Divisions E2, F4 and B8] A golf-ball warmer comprises a pair of complementary case sections 21, 22 hingedly connected together for swinging movement between a closed position (side elevation, Fig. 1) and an open position (section, Fig. 6), the case sections being of a material permeable to radiant energy, and a pair of complementary ball-holding sections 46, 47 carried inside and spaced from the case sections 21, 22, the ball-holding sections being of heat-absorbent material. The ball-holding sections 46, 47 are identical, each comprising a flat web 48, 58 of resilient material with a peripheral beading 49, 59, the web extending completely across the interior of the case section 21, 22 and the beading engaging in a circumferential groove 28, 38 inside and near the edge of the case section. Each web has one or more spaced hemispherical depressions 50, 60 (three in the embodiment), the depressions being spaced apart and also spaced from the case section 21, 22, thus forming a dead air-space between the outer case and the ball-holding section. The webs 48, 58 may be integrally connected together by a flexible hinge portion 63, and further resilient means 64 may be porvided to effect snap opening and closing. The outer case may be made of a transparent plastices material and the ball-holding sections of an opaque, black plastics material. A mounting member 12, preferably a U-shaped clip, is secured to the outer case and may also carry an apertured portion 13 for holding tees 15. A battery in a housing 16 may also be provided for supplementing solar radiation.
