Abstract
1,197,121. Rolling apparatus. MASCHINENFABRIK SACK G.m.b.H. 20 Feb., 1968 [29 March, 1967], No. 8267/68. Heading B3M. Billet manipulating apparatus, which is associated with a roller bed 1, includes longitudinal guides 2 and 3 which are shiftable on beams 4 and 5 transversely of the bed, the guide 3 being provided with curved plate sections 23, and being rotatable about an axis X. To rotate a billet B through 90 degrees, while preventing it from falling on to the bed 1, the guides 2 and 3 are moved inwardly until they contact the billet. The guide 3 is rotated by rams 17 and locked in its tilted position, Fig. 3, by the co-operation of detents 21 on the beam 5 with notches 20 an arms 19 pivoted to the guide. Arms 8, associated with the guide 2, are lifted to tilt the billet onto the plate sections 23, and the guides are finally moved apart to gently lower the billet on to the bed. The lower edges of the sections 23 remain at all times below the level 10 of the bed.
