Abstract

1,196,558. Web reels. KALLE A.G. 20 Aug., 1968 [22 Aug., 1967], No. 39717/68. Heading B8R. [Also in Division F2] A reel on which a thin web 5 is wound has resilient or elastic buffer elements 4 disposed on its surface and extending parallel to its axis. The buffer elements may consist of elastic material provided with a metal or plastics cap 7, or of sponge rubber or air-tight inflatable bags of oval or round section or plate springs. The web passes around a roller 6 rotatably mounted at the end of a pivoted lever 8 and the weight of the roller smooths out uneven tension in the web. The vertical distance between the roller 6 and the wound web 2 is maintained constant by manually or automatically moving the pivot 9 of the lever 8 or by rotating the frame 13 supporting the reel.
