Abstract

1,193,683. Aircraft instruments. T. A. STANSBURY. 21 March, 1967, No. 54381/69. Divided out of 1,193,682. Heading B7W. [Also in Division H4] In a system for indicating whether a second craft is a navigational hazard to a first craft, the first craft carries a computer responsive to signals generated by the first craft and to signals received from the second craft, the signals are representative of the altitudes of the two craft and the distance between them and unrepresentative of the courses of the two craft and their velocities and their relative bearing, or representative of the altitudes of the two craft and the distance between them and their velocities and unrepresentative of their courses and relative bearing; and the distance is obtained without the use of any groundreflected signal. The signals are derived in the same general manner as corresponding signals in Specification 1,193,682, and one computer Fig. 2, utilizes distance bands D 1 , D 2 , D 3 , D L and relative velocity bands S, F, H; hazardous situations are as shown in the table below: typical distance and velocity bands being specified. Lamps 147 to 149 illuminate rings 171 to 173, Fig. 3, respectively, and lamps 139C, 140C illuminate the "climb" or "dive" arrow as appropriate.
