Abstract

1,193,405. Casting-machines. E. I. VALYI. 31 May, 1968, No. 26282/68. Heading B3F. [Also in Division B5] Mould parts 10 and 11 mounted on movable and fixed platens 12 and 13 respectively are brought to the casting position in two stages, in the first of which they are brought into close proximity by two pairs of toggle links 85, 86 secured to the platen 12 and a short stroke piston 15. In this position the links are locked by the abutment of projections 91, 92 thereon, whereupon the platen 15 is urged forwardly by fluid pressure acting on a piston 60 within a fixed plate 16 to effect a complete closure of the mould parts. The casting pressure is opposed by high pressure applied to the rear of piston 60. The links 85 are secured to a shaft 89 rotated in either direction by a fluid motor 90. Pressure fluid is fed to either side of the piston 60 via a line 82 and a valve 79 in association with a relief valve 84. Casting material is injected by a nozzle 62.
