[Also in Division G1] A dash pot for damping oscillations of a rocking torque reaction arm 24 in a brake testing chassis dynamometer (Division G1) comprises a piston 420 pivoted to the arm 24 by a bolt 436. The piston slides with slight clearance in a housing 390 mounted on a plate 150. The rate of damping can be controlled by adjusting a needle valve 450 in a by-pass 448, 450, 452, 453. The piston is prevented from engaging the bottom of cylinder 390 by a stop nut 440 threaded on its push rod 424 and supporting a dust cover 442 shielding the opening 426.
